great printer January 19, 2010 MIGUEL MARTINEZ prints are crystal clear, i was amazed. i printed a dvd cover 3-4mins.
printer's noise (medium) not to bad when compare to others.
installation in windows 7 wasn't a problem. i would say
the whole installation w/carts took about 10-15mins.
printer works great in my home wireless network, intallation in vista 2-3mins.
these type of printers do require maintenance every 6 months (twice a year)
because the printer head is integrated into the cart holder. to avoid any type
of maintenance i recommend getting a printer w/o the integrated head instead
the head is integrated into the cartrigde.

Good news; Bad news December 3, 2009 Joe O. Marcom (Houston, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The good news is that Epson has great warranty replacement service, and is even a bit flexible about expiration dates. The bad news is that you are almost certain to need it. I have used every version from the C80 through the C88+, and every one failed within a year. The problem was always color print head failure, despite regular, but not excessive use. Too bad, because these printers work with everything from Win98 through Linux.
Decent no-frills printer for the price--Don't forget to buy a USB cord! December 1, 2009 Kevin Barmish (Seattle) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For the last 10 years I've only owned HP printers--both all-in-one styles (printer/scanner/copier) and stand alone styles. This is my first Epson, and so far, it's par for the course.
=============
PROS
=============
-- Basic- unlike some other Epson (and other brand) models, this doesn't have some of the supposedly high-end frills like a memory card reader or a LCD touchscreen. These features are interesting in theory, but I don't have the desire to print directly from a memory card. I'd rather upload them onto my computer, edit them in photoshop (or GIMP) then print them.
-- Fast- The printing speed for text documents on this printer is on the faster end of what I've seen. The Epson spec sheet for this printer quotes 38ppm (pages per minute) in black text in Draft mode, and 27 ppm in black text in Laser quality text mode. I find the quality of draft mode to be almost unreadable (tolerable for editing a draft, I suppose), so the laser quality text is what I generally use. For the black text printing I've done so far, the speed was closer to 15-20 ppm vs. the quoted 27ppm. As far as being "laser quality"--the text appeared to be as sharp as that from a laser printer, but defiantly not as durable. The Epson DuraBrite inks are smudge-resistant when compared to other inkjet printers, but not when compared to the virtually smudge proof text from laser printers. With a little bit of water and some rubbing, the DuraBrite did smudge.
-- Included Inks- In the past, some of the printers I've purchased came with "starter" ink cartridges. It appears as though this printer came with full-capacity cartridges (the spec sheet says they are "standard capacity"). This includes 3 color cartridges (C/M/Y) and 2 black ink cartridges.
=============
CONS
=============
-- No USB Cord included. Like most all printers, this printer did not come with the required USB (A/B) cord to connect to a computer. At most brick and mortar Office superstores this USB cord would set you back $20-40 (depending on length and if the salesperson suckered you into buying a gold plated one). The AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to B-Male Cable is a good low priced option.
-- Replacement Ink Price. It appears this printer comes with standard-capacity ink cartridges, which is a great deal considering the price of the replacement set (3 color and 2 black). Currently on Amazon, the 3 color ink set costs about $32 and each black cartridge costs about $16--a total of $64. Considering this printer goes for about $60 brand new, it'd be more economical to re-buy the printer (which comes with full ink cartridges) than buying replacement ink.

Note
=============
I have not used this printer to print photos on glossy paper. I did a test print of a photo on standard inkjet paper, and the results were decent. I've always found it more economical (and higher quality) to print my photos at Costco or another professional photo developer that uses a dye-sublimination printer.
What a piece of Crap November 30, 2009 Vincent Martucci (Wantagh, New York United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this item at Staples because of all the decent reviews,but within 2 weeks it crapped out. It keeps saying add ink but there is plenty as I put in new cartridges. Then the machine says jam when there isnt any jam.Then the machine turns off by itself---What goes here, Please DONT buy this Junk--Pay a little more for a Cannon or better recognized name. It seems to me that the build and operating quality is poor. I will return this junk and spend more money for a better printer. Again dont be fooled by the great on line reviews like I did--stay away from this piece of crap.
An Inexpensive Inkjet Printer for Everyday Use November 24, 2009 Wildness (Colorado Plateau) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Epson Workforce 30 is a solid everyday inkjet printer. If your need is mostly to print black & white and color documents, the Workforce 30 will deliver good quality at a very reasonable price. The text is crisp and sharp and the graphics print nicely with a good color rendition.
Where the Workforce 30 falls short, but not unexpectedly, is in photo printing; but, this is not a dedicated photo printer such as the Artisan 50 or the older R series of Epson photo inkjet printer. For the occasional snapshot photo or for photos withing a document, the Workforce 30 will deliver what you need. But, if you primarily want to print high quality photographs, then you will need to step up to the Clarion inks found in the Artisan 50, Artisan 810, or the Photo 1400.
